EJW: How did you get started in personal development?
PP: I’m not sure what you mean by “personal development,” so I’ll give that some thought. My current focus is on practical spirituality as described in the book Practical Spirituality by John Woodman, and it’s evident to me that I have a long way to go on this path.
I was first introduced to a practical spirituality and other spiritual topics by my father, who was a Buddhist monk for many years. He instilled this in me from an early age, but it wasn’t until I saw his life change from “monk” to “husband and father” that I truly realized how important this spiritual path could be in my life. Also in my late teens, I met a man who was married to the same woman for 35 years with three children, and he became my mentor. He showed me how to help people to realize their potential and the value of life.
