According to the book, To Acquire Wisdom, page 127, by William Ellsworth, Samuel is a type of ESTP. This is based on the fact that in some of the letters he wrote, he seemed a bit "nervous" (ESTP). He does seem to have a certain amount of the "show off" and "self-promoting" personality which is "P" dominant.
Because of their boldness, ESTPs can very often get into trouble. This is because they tend to disregard the rights of others and go ahead and take what they want. ESTPs are usually aggressive, with an instinct for leadership. They are usually very energetic and like to be the center of attention. They are usually quite determined and are not afraid to take chances. It is in this trait that Samuel shows a side of himself that has been hidden from us.
