John Klute personality type is ISFJ, and I'm sure that's who you're referring to. I wonder if he had the same sort of, "Please don't leave me" moment you did. I imagine his ISFJ nature responded to it in a way that was much more like yours, and it played on his emotions. I hope he didn't take it personally. And I know that JK's are not usually a type to take the "leave me" seriously.
I'm not too sure how to respond to your last paragraph, but I think I understand what you mean. He's a JK, and that often makes him seem like he's a bit of an ass. But he's not. He's just a very, very sensitive person and at times he's a bit overbearing as well.
I'm not sure where all this is going. It's kind of like a rollercoaster ride where you don't know where you're going or if you're going to get off again...
