He met his end when Hermes put him to sleep and chopped off his head. To commemorate him, Hera placed his eyes upon the tail of her pet peacock, and that's why peacocks have eyes on their tails. In some myths, Argus had a few adventures of his own, including being the one to kill Echidna, the mother of all monsters.
