We are all unique in our own way, which makes it impossible to generalize about people in the same way we can about animals or even other humans. However, personality typing is helpful in understanding ourselves and others more fully, and it can help us to better understand ourselves and others by further distilling a person’s unique characteristics into a single classification that can help us relate to them more.
Just like with all types, I believe that overarching personality types can be a useful tool as long as you are careful not to use them as a crutch. The type system is an incredibly useful tool, but it only works when you use it correctly.
For example, if a person is an ISTJ, the system says that they are very logical and tend to do things in the most efficient way possible. This is not necessarily true of all ISTJs, but it does apply to some of them.
