Musicology personality type is INFP, which is an Introverted Intuitive Feeling Perceiving type, or in other words, an ENFP or an INTJ.
The most common mistake people make is putting all musicologists into the same box and labeling all of them as one type.
It's better to think of musicologists as a cluster of possible types, because different musicologists have very different approaches to their musical knowledge, and the types in question vary from one to the other.
This means that you can have a more or less "typical" musicologist, but that doesn't mean that all musicologists are the same person.
Also, there's nothing necessarily "wrong" with being INFP, ENFP, ENTJ or any other type, it's just that there are some different types of people who fit under this general umbrella.

Musicology (from Greek μουσική mousikē 'music' and -λογια -logia, 'domain of study') is the scholarly analysis and research-based study of music. Musicology departments traditionally belong to the humanities, although some music research is scientific in focus (psychological, sociological, acoustical, neurological, computational). Some geographers and anthropologists have an interest in musicology so the social sciences also have an academic interest. A scholar who participates in musical research is a musicologist.
