Theodore Croup was the last surviving member of the Croup family who rigidly tried to save it until his death in 2287. Once a member of the affluent Croup family, Theodore prayed for something to wipe away the family debt incurred in a bad stock market trade. When he watched the mushroom clouds rising, he thought that it was someone's sick joke. Unprepared to survive though a nuclear attack, he and his family would succumb to the effects of radiation poisoning, or at least partially. When he awoke the next morning, he discovered that not only had the majority of his facial features slid off in his sleep but also that his family was literally shambling about the premises. Over January and February of 2078, he gathered the shuffling remains of his family together and locked them in the basement, unable to bring himself to end their suffering and look for other survivors.
