The Enneagram is a personality typing system developed by Swiss psychiatrist and theologian Augustin Radó in the early 20th century. The Enneagram is primarily used as a self-help tool but is also used as a tool for understanding and interpreting the Bible and other sacred texts of world religions.
Who created the enneagram? [ edit ]
The Enneagram was invented by Augustin Radó (1881-1948). He incorporated some of his ideas for understanding human personality from his studies of ancient religions, and his observations of his own clients. Radó's method for classifying personality types was developed into the modern system of nine personality types by George G. M. James (1920-2014), a British psychologist, who founded the International Enneagram Association in 1962. He based it on the nine personality types described by the Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung. He also founded the Enneagram Trust, an organization devoted to publishing material about the Enneagram, including Jung's writings on it.
