Souji Rippukan personality type is ISTJ, so he'll probably be fairly blunt and honorable in his interactions with the girls. His personality type is the "idealist" so he's probably not going to be very sympathetic to the girls' problems. In the manga he does appear to be decent, but he always has a reason for his actions. He's not really the "villain" type. However, he is the main character and will obviously have his own agenda. That will be a bit of a problem for the girls, but also something they can help with.
One of the girls introduced in chapter 2 is a girl named Yukari that Souji met during his first year of high school. In this chapter, she tells him that she has been waiting for him for two years, but hasn't seen him. She also says that she'll talk to him about it in three years. I have no clue what that's about, but it sounds like a pretty clear sign that she's not interested in him.
Chapter 3 starts off with Souji trying to work up the courage to approach Yukari again. He finally comes up with an idea and then goes to meet her.
