A lot of your blog posts are about storytelling: what that means to you, how you do it, and why. What's your process for writing?
I have a very specific process for writing. It's probably my least favorite process, but it works for me. I write every day, and I write every single day for at least an hour. It might be a bit more or a bit less, but I write every day without fail. I don't write at night before going to bed or when I wake up in the morning.
I know there's something about not writing at night that's really important to you. What is it about that time of day that helps you write?
When I was a kid, I would go to bed and then get out of bed and go to the kitchen and make myself a drink. That was all part of the ritual of getting up in the morning. But I had no idea where this ritual came from, or why it was important.
