    ESTP (XwX)

Gemology personality type is ESTP, so was his combination of extroversion and rationality, which he used to solve problems.

It is not the kind of personality type that would have been born in a garden, it is the kind that came from hard work and determination, from a willingness to make sacrifices, to put in long hours and to be willing to be a perfectionist.

I don't think that P.D. James had a problem with ESTP's being born in a garden, she was simply writing a book about a lawyer, who was an ESTP's client - a common thing in real life. (and she was a very good writer, so I'm pretty sure that she made the character as real as possible).

I think it's very important to remember that P.D. James was writing about her clients, not about a type of people, or a certain range of personality types. She chose to write about a particular type of person, and she did it very well.

A lot of people try to pigeonhole her characters and type them into stereotypes, which is not appropriate for this discussion. She wrote them as they were, so let's not try and turn them into something else.

Gemology or gemmology is the science dealing with natural and artificial gemstone materials. It is a geoscience and a branch of mineralogy. Some jewelers (and many non-jewelers) are academically trained gemologists and are qualified to identify and evaluate gems.
