Lance Ira personality type is ISTP, while his brother, Lance Parker, is also a musician. In an interview with "The New York Times", Lance Ira said: "My brother and I are pretty much the same person. We both have the same kind of mutton-chop sideburns. But we both had different ways of expressing our individuality." The brothers are close enough that they both live in the same house in Amityville, New York, where a wall was built in between their rooms.
Ira has played drums for The Lemonheads, The Dream Academy, and The Raspberries. He has also worked as a session musician for such bands as The Go-Go's, and has played with the group Nervous Gender.
