Gallows humour personality type is ESTP, and I tend to think that the image of a hard-drinking, chain-smoking clown is something of a stereotype, which is why I was so surprised when I found out that there is a real clown school in Bristol, UK.
It’s been around since 1998, and has graduated over 1,000 clowns since its inception. And if you’re an ESTP, then you’ll be able to relate to this part of the curriculum:
“You will learn the skills and techniques needed to communicate effectively with the people you meet, and how to make the best of limited resources. You will learn the skills required to create original material and adapt existing material to that end. You will learn how to work with others, both professionally and socially. You will learn how to understand what people want from you and how to give it to them.”
The clown school is actually run by a guy called Lubor who has a degree in English literature. He taught himself English and Latin just so he could study clowning, even though he had no qualifications in clowning whatsoever.
