I would first like to point out that the Jungian model of personality type is not compatible with the Myers-Briggs model of personality type. The MBTI is based on the notion of an innate type of human being that can be illustrated on a two dimensional scale (i.e. two axes on which you can place your type). The Jungian model is based on the notion of an archetype, of which all humans are born with one of, and the same archetype is manifested in us throughout our life. Therefore, no type can be said to be innate, but rather, the archetype is innate.
The Jungian model is therefore more complex than the MBTI model, and it is difficult to translate the Jungian model into the more simple MBTI model. This has led to many misunderstandings regarding the Jungian model and MBTI models, and more importantly, the MBTI model has led to many misunderstandings regarding the Jungian model. Some MBTI practitioners have merged the Jungian model with the MBTI model, with disastrous results.
The Jungian model is essentially a typology, with each type possessing its own strengths and weaknesses.
