'Introversion is seen as a negative in our culture, where being outgoing is seen as a desirable trait,' said lead author Dr Michael Kraus of the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
'But it may be that the opposite is true,' he added. 'Introverts may be more likely to be on Facebook because they are more comfortable with the way the site works.'
