Ataf Khawaja is a Danish rapper who in hip-hop circles is also known as Sorte Slyngel. He has Pakistani roots and grew up in Vanløse, Denmark, and has been part of the Danish hip hop community for the past 25 years. Ataf began as a soloist, but quickly formed the group Smooth Asiatics, which has since become known as Kidnap. Kidnap became big in the underground environment, but they rapped in English. Ataf thought the challenge was to rap in Danish, and this resulted in i.a. in guest appearances on Jokeren and Den Gale Pose's 3rd album and tour, participation in Clemens' first album Regnskabets Time, and Ataf has also performed on Roskilde Festival's hip hop scene three times.
Ataf, who at the beginning of his career cultivated the gangster style, since made up for this image, and chose to rap about integration, identity and society. He is known for such hits as "Tre Små Perkere" and "Bare En Thug".
