Laman not only was a good explorer and a competent surveyor, he was also a highly skilled shipbuilder, a talented musician and poet, and a great storyteller. He was never satisfied with the knowledge he had at his disposal, and he continually searched for new information. His thirst for knowledge was insatiable.
Laman’s excessive thirst for knowledge is likely one of the reasons he did not survive to see the completion of the project.
