Her personality was not accepting of people who did not do well in school, and she was very hard on herself. The only reason she was able to go to college was because she was a pre-med major, and she focused on that.
After college, Ellie ended up working at a job that wasn’t so much fun. She became very close with her coworkers, but they were all miserable. Her coworkers were all workaholics who were always working for other people. They were all miserable, always complaining about their jobs, and always wanted to get a better job than the one they had.
