Robin personality type is ENTP, and that of the show's male lead, Steven Moffat, is ENFJ.
I recently discussed the parallels between Sherlock and Doctor Who with a friend, and my analysis of Moffat and the character of Sherlock Holmes was inadvertently in part an analysis of Moffat's own personality. This is definitely worth examining again.
(I'm not saying that Moffat is an ISTP or anything like that; I'm merely saying that the Doctor Who character is ISTP-like and Sherlock Holmes is ENTP-like.)
The following is a detailed analysis of some of the patterns I saw in Moffat's Sherlock Holmes and in the character of Sherlock Holmes.
The Sherlock Holmes comparison
The first thing to note is that Moffat's Sherlock is not just a superficial imitation of Conan Doyle's Holmes. Moffat's Sherlock has many aspects in common with Conan Doyle's Holmes, but there are also aspects that are quite different.
The most noticeable difference between the two characters is that Moffat's Sherlock is more emotional and erratic than Conan Doyle's Holmes. Conventional wisdom about Holmes holds that he was cold and calculating, while Moffat's Sherlock is rather more emotional and moody.
