ISTPs are masters of efficiency, and as a result are generally quite self-reliant. They are skilled at what they do, and tend to be very good at what they do. They are able to think on their feet, and solve problems without many wasted steps. Their efficiency can sometimes be a problem, however, if they do not take the time to slow down and think things through before acting.
ISTPs are very good at what they do, but not always good at the more human things. They may have difficulty understanding how others feel, because ISTPs are not good at "getting into people's heads". They have a hard time with emotional issues, and get frustrated when they feel things are getting out of control. They also have a hard time with social issues. They may be unwilling to speak up or open up to others, not feeling comfortable with the idea of sharing with others. These things are still within the realm of possibility, though, and many ISTPs have trouble with these areas of their lives.
