Ardavan Kamkar (Persian: اردوان کامکار, born July 7, 1980 in Sanandaj) is an iranian santur player and composer. Ardavan started learning the santur at the age 4 with his father, Hassan Kamkar. As a young man, Ardavan Kamkar composed a Santouri concerto with his brother Houshang Kamkar, which was released on an album called Bar Tark Sepideh (with a fiddle concerto by his brother, Ardeshir). He came to Tehran in 1980 and began his career in the field of music and with the help of his brothers, he learned the lessons of harmony, counterpoint and the principles of composition. He took Santur playing to a new level technically and took dulcimer to very high levels in the field of playing Iranian music, principles and foundations of music and composition. Dividing the melody of the pieces and dividing them into two hands is another feature of his playing, and one of his most important abilities is the power equal to his hands, which has equalized his left and right beats.
