Hooshang Kamkar (Persian: هوشنگ کامکار, born 1946 in Sanandaj) is an Iranian composer. He is currently a member of iran's House of Music
Hooshang Kamkar was born in 1946 in Sanandaj. He studied music with his father, Professor Hassan Kamkar, and studied music at the Tehran Higher Conservatory of Music for 2 years. In 1975, he received a bachelor's degree in composition from the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Tehran, and then studied counterpoint and fugue at the Santachi Conservatory in Chile, Rome, and received a bachelor's degree in music from the University of San Francisco in the United States. He taught music at the University of Arts for 10 years and was in charge of the music department of this university for 6 years (from 1993 to 1999). He is in charge of the Kamkars music group. Hooshang Kamkar was honored on August 17, 2009 at the 10th Poetry and Music Conference of the Winter Literary Center.
