Nathaniel Wang was born on May 6, 1990. He grew up in the suburbs of New York City, where he attended public elementary school. While growing up, he was homeschooled for two years due to his parents' belief that he did not need to attend public school. He first learned about Myers Briggs from his mother, who told him that he was an INFJ, and that he did not have to be a genius to be an INFJ.
While in high school, he became more interested in anime and video games, leading him to get a job at the local video game store, where he was hired on the basis of his passion for video games. He also started writing anime fan fiction, which he wrote under the pen name "Nathaniel Wang".
