I’ve spent the last couple of years working with the ESFP trait type in an attempt to better understand the personalities that fall into this category.
As I’ve done this, I’ve been impressed with how many of the traits that I used to describe people in my own life mirrored the ESFP profile.
I’m one of those people that likes to be entertained. I get bored quickly, and I’m always looking for an interesting new way to engage with others.
ESFPs are very energetic and enthusiastic, so I couldn’t help but notice that when I was engaging in conversations with others, my energy levels would rise, and the conversations would take on a “magical” feel.
I always used to struggle with people trying to discredit me as a psychotherapist, but I had no problem with that. I knew that it was them struggling to understand my energetic way of communicating, and not a reflection on my abilities.
ESFPs are generally not good at listening.
