Vesna is a character in the Vampire Diaries series, who is portrayed by Nina Dobrev. Vesna is often described as a mysterious, secretive person. She is a friend to Elena Gilbert, who was a fan of Ian Somerhalder's character Damon Salvatore. In season two, Elena and Vesna became close friends, and eventually she became Elena's guardian.
Vesna and Elena also have a connection with vampires, which is why it was only natural for Elena to ask Vesna's help in finding out more about the Salvatore brothers. She is also a powerful witch, who can cast spells and shields. She is also a great fighter, and she has been in many battles with supernatural beings.
In season three, the Salvatore brothers found out that Vesna was their mother. They were shocked and frustrated, since they thought that they were her sons. She eventually revealed that she actually was their aunt, but she took care of them as her sons. The brothers eventually forgave her and tried to get along with her as their mother.
