He's a little like a male version of Mrs. Doubtfire, in that he completely misrepresents himself as a totally different person, and yet he's still the same person underneath. He's the best at pretending to be someone else, but if you think about it, he's the kind of person who would have been a womanizer, alcoholic or drug addict if he was allowed to be himself. It's exactly because he's so good at pretending to be someone else that makes his character so interesting.
I get the vibe from his character that he's basically a good person who is trying to do good, but he's got some serious flaws in his personal life, which keeps him from being able to get the things he wants out of life.
This is what I mean when I say that he's a classic INFJ type.
