I can attest to this because when I was in my 40s, I knew what I wanted to do with my life and how society needed me to live in order for me to do that. But when I got to my 50s, I found that society was not ready for me and that I needed to stop focusing on my goals and start focusing on what society wanted me to accomplish.
But at the same time, I did not want to stop living. I did not want to stop being me. And so the conflict in the story came from the fact that society wanted Nilson Neto to sacrifice his dreams and goals in order for him to be a good family man, but Nilson Neto did not want to give up his dreams or goals for that.
