Gohan Beast personality type is INFP, and so it's natural that he would have a lot of similarities with the original. I've even seen people say that Vegeta and Gohan are similar in personality, which is nonsense.
Vegeta and Trunks are pretty similar in personality, but I'd say they're not really that similar. Trunks is more of a serious fighter who keeps his cool a lot of the time, while Vegeta's more of a hot head who likes to go berserk when he's angry.
The main thing that defines Vegeta from Gohan is that Vegeta is more serious and has more 'stuck-up' tendencies. This is why I don't think Vegeta and Gohan are similar, because Gohan's personality is more jovial than Vegeta's, and has a happy-go-lucky attitude.
I agree, the only thing that makes them similar is the whole "sadists" thing. But it doesn't make them similar in personality.
