Childhood
Similar to most children of the Rebo family, Max grew up in a rather secluded location, with only the family heirloom the Space-Time Shift Stone, his parents and a few maids and servants. Due to his older brother's insistence, he was forced to learn how to pilot a ship.
As he was younger, he wanted to make his own rules, but his parents kept him on a tight schedule. His first official experience as an explorer was when he was sent to explore the Moon. He had no idea about racing, at first. He just wanted to see the Moon.
Moon
After exploring the Moon for several months (not knowing it would be his last), he found out that there was an Equestrian town there, but they didn't know anything about anything. He was going to go back to Earth, but suddenly heard a radio transmission from a nearby moon.. From there on, he became curious about Equestria and wanted to go there.
