So, the thing about Extraverted Sensing is that it isn’t, in and of itself, a personality or character trait. Extraverted Sensing is a function that is simply the neurological manifestation of Extraverted Sensing in the brain. It is not a character trait or personality trait. Because, remember, functions are “word-like” and are not internalized, conscious traits.
So, we now see that Extraverted Sensing is NOT a function at all. It’s a neurological manifestation of an internalized trait. This is why I said at the beginning that Extraverted Sensing is an internalized trait and not a function (or personality trait).
The more we can recognize that Extraverted Sensing is an internal trait, the better we will be able to understand what motivates our behaviors.
I know there are a lot of people out there that are still using the terms “Extraverted Sensing” and “ESFJ” interchangeably, but I really think it’s time to stop using these terms to describe different types of functions in our brain.
