Melanie personality type is INFP, so she's not "bad". She just doesn't value them as much as she values people who are nice to her. I think she's just emotionally immature.
I don't think she's lying to you, but if she is lying, it's not malicious. She doesn't really know what's going on. She's not intentionally lying, like like one of those people who tell you that you're crazy for believing that your boyfriend is cheating on you, only she doesn't even realize that she's doing it.
From what you've told me, I don't think it's malicious, but I do think it's immature. You can't expect her to change overnight, but I think you should try to talk to her more and let her know that you understand that she's emotionally immature. I also think that she should try to practice being more mature if she's going to have relationships, but I don't think that you have to be the responsible one.
