"I've grown up, but I haven't changed, and I'm not going to," added Hanke, who is married to his wife, Kim, and has a 13-year-old daughter, Claire. "This isn't about money. It's about doing my job and doing it to the best of my ability."
Hanke has been a part of the team since it was formed in 2004 and has been known for his work with the team's long-standing tradition of creating shirt designs that reflect the personality of each player with the name of the shirt printed on them. Hanke has designed several of those shirts, including one that features a skeleton wearing a jersey of the team's name — one that he said he designed after seeing an image of one on the Internet.
"That's the idealistic side of me," Hanke said. "I'd like to think I'm an empathetic guy.
