INFJ, INFJ, INFJ, INFJ. The more I thought about the labels, the less I liked them. The problem was that it didn’t really matter what personality type I was. The labels defined who I was in relation to the world, not to myself. I was a person who was too introverted to be a social butterfly. I was too extroverted to be an introvert. I had a hard time expressing my emotions, yet I was so sensitive that people often misunderstood how I felt.
One day, I sat in English class, listening to the teacher talk about how different personality types were as different as night and day. She said most of her students were in agreement with her that the word “type” implied something concrete. She explained that the word “type” meant that people were either extroverted or introverted, and each personality type had a certain level of extroversion or introversion. There were no exceptions to this rule.
