Mochizuki Kuon personality type is INTJ, which is one of the most common types in Japan. It is no wonder Kuon has such a high concentration of INTJ characters throughout the series (especially in Death Note and Death Note: Another Note).
Kuon’s character design is also very similar to that of Light Yagami, right down to the eyes. Light’s eyes are always portrayed as being “dead” or “glazed over,” but Kuon’s are often portrayed as “glassy” or “intense”. As well, Kuon is often depicted with a blank stare or an expressionless face, while Light is often portrayed with an angry or disgusted grimace.
When Kuon finally meets Light Yagami after two years of being overlooked by every other Shinigami (Death Gods), Kuon manages to sneak up on him from behind and attempt to kill him. However, Light manages to sense this and turns around first, catching Kuon off guard and disarming him in the process. Light then proceeds to question Kuon and tries to look into his right eye with his own Shinigami eyes, but Kuon is able to resist.
