In the manga, his initial role is that of a coward and a weakling, and he is often ridiculed and beaten up by his peers. However, his true potential eventually comes to light and he becomes a strong and selfless leader whose actions benefit everyone, and this is mainly due to the influence of Takagi and his desire to become stronger. However, he also becomes quick to anger and is afraid of losing control of himself.
In the anime, he is somewhat similar to his manga counterpart, but is less of a coward and more of a risk-taker. He is shown to be very selfless and protective of his friends, especially Takagi; on one occasion he attacks a member of the Seikain faction and allows him to get away only to save Takagi's life. He eventually becomes very good at controlling his rage and has a more serious side than his manga counterpart.
In the second season, Natori is still the same type as his manga counterpart, but he has become more serious and less of a risk-taker.
