Amatsumara personality type is ENFJ, by the way, but that’s not the point.
The point is that in the manga, the characters are clearly defined as being part of a particular type, and they proceed to act according to those type-specific rules. In the anime, they’re free to switch between types. That exchange, however, is not free. It has a price, and that price is that the characters are less interesting, less developed, and less three-dimensional than they otherwise could have been.
The reason for this is that anime characters tend to be more flexible than their manga counterparts. They don’t have to be consistent with their manga selves, because they can simply switch from one type to another in the same series. For example, episode 1 of Full Metal Panic! has Sousuke as an ESTP who ends up as a SFPT later on; there are no repercussions for his initial character type choice, because he can just change it.
In contrast, manga characters tend to be more rigid about their type.
