While they were working on the book, they would like to include a fictional character that would help to flesh out the story and make it more realistic.
“I thought it would be interesting to do it,” says Ethisch. “So I said yes when they asked me to write the character. I had never written anything that was set in El Salvador.”
The novel is called Coronel Guillermo Kohan and is set in the early 1980s in the Chaparral refugee camp in El Salvador.
