Copying the style of an actual action hero is a good way to get a bunch of people to take you seriously. One highly-successful action hero is the one who learns to be awesome and then becomes awesome. This is why most crime fighters have no idea how they’re supposed to fight. They are in the middle of being awesome when it happens and they’re like “What is this?” They have to learn to become awesome, then be awesome, and then be awesome again, and then again and again, and soon enough it’s second nature.
This is how I learned to do this.
I had always been a pretty good writer, but I didn’t go to college or anything, so I didn’t know what I was doing. I just thought “I should write about this superhero thing, and I need to practice writing about it before I do it.” I made up a few stories in my head about how cool and interesting superhero stuff would be if only I could figure out how to make it true.
