Being the middle child, I often thought I was the most annoying person in the world. At times I was sure my parents hated me. No one in my family ever said it out loud, but I never knew if they didn't like me.
I was always convinced that my parents doted on my older brother and sister and not me. I'm sure there are many families where the youngest child is ignored and not appreciated as much as other children of the same age. I just never felt that way.
I never really thought about why my parents were so attentive to my older brother and sister over me. They always seemed to be happy to have me around, but I just couldn't see it.
I used to think they were just being nice or maybe they thought I was a baby or something. It was only when I came to college that I started to realize that maybe my parents had a reason for their actions. They may not have always been aware of it, but there was a very good reason why my parents were so different with me than my other siblings.
