The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is an “intuition” and “judgment” based personality assessment instrument developed by Isabel Myers and her daughter, Katharine Briggs, who were both psychologists.
The theory behind the MBTI is that there are four basic personality types: Introverts (I), Extroverts (E), Sensing (S), and Intuitive (N). The theory goes on to say that each person has a preference for each of these four types. The theory has never been proven. It is a myth, and it has been disproven. The MBTI is based on the invalid premise that personality is a single entity that can be measured as a percentage. This is false.
