Shishimaru, who was originally called Shishimaru Koushaku, is one of the main characters in the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's manga. He's a strong-willed teenager who has a strong sense of justice and integrity, and he's the one who first believed that the "Numbers" were some kind of advanced technology or super-weapon. He's always pushing his friends to act like they're 10 years older than they are, which gives him a somewhat older brother vibe. He also tends to be very carefree and optimistic, which is something that has rubbed off on Yugi and Kaiba alike over the years.
In the anime, Shishimaru is the only character besides Yugi, Kaiba, and Mokuba who is not named after an Egyptian god. Instead, he was named after a manga character of the same name.
