The MBTI is an assessment tool that uses a questionnaire to determine the dominant function of an individual’s personality, which is then contrasted against their auxiliary function for a more complete understanding of their personality type.
The ISTJ personality type was traditionally thought to be ‘the worker’.
“Although ISTJs have a tendency to be ‘workers’, they can also be highly creative,” says David Keirsey, author of Please Understand Me, who has written extensively on the MBTI.
“They are often regarded as the most ‘conservative’ of the 16 types. They want to know everything about a problem or situation before they take action.”
ISTJs are also known for being introverted, decisive and organized. They are good with details, and have an internal locus of control – believing they have the ability to control their own destiny.
