Eugene's mother, Maria, is a nurse who has been at the same hospital since 1976. Both of his parents have been in nursing for over 30 years. Eugene's father also is a Chief Petty Officer in the United States Navy.
Eugene dropped out of high school due to stress and took a job at a local grocery store to help support his family. He went on to earn his GED in 1999, and then he began taking classes at a community college. He earned his Associate's Degree in 2000.
Eugene has worked at the same grocery store since 1999. He was hired as a stocker and worked in that position for 2 years. He began as a stocker and then moved up to bagger/checker. In 2005, he became an assistant manager and worked his way up to manager in 2011. Eugene loves his job and enjoys it so much he does not want to leave.
