A few years ago, I realized that Nesrin (Ena) had been the one who was giving me life-saving advice regularly. After a while, I wondered, “What makes her so wise and sure?” and found myself ruminating on the enneagram. Ena is an 11. I guess this explains why she seems to know what I’m thinking! She’s in me. Or, well, in my centrality.
I have always been one of those people who has serious issues with authority. Even as a child, I would balk at listening to a teacher or a minister or a parent of any kind. I would be very resistant to accepting their advice. I have always been on the outside, looking in at the world, seeking my own truth and wisdom.
When I first started exploring the enneagram, I found myself being drawn to the 2. (I’m an 8.) It’s not that I didn’t like the other types, but it felt safe and familiar.
