Geordi personality type is INFP, which I already knew. He’s got a very deep and intricate understanding of the universe, and for all his seeming aloofness, he’s very ethical and moral. He’s got a very deep, complex, and well-thought-out moral code, and he sticks to it (unlike Picard, who is a complete hypocrite).
I liked that this episode brought back the “flowers” subplot. I think it’s the most powerful and beautiful conversation that Riker ever had with an Ferengi – the one where they discuss the nature of peace between civilizations. It was really moving, and I love that it hasn’t been forgotten.
Also, there’s something really interesting about the way that Riker talks to the Ferengi after they’ve lost the bet. The Ferengi are so desperate to win, which makes them so much more vulnerable than they would be otherwise. In retrospect, I think Riker was feeling some pity for them: he wanted to help them – but only to regain his own dignity.
So yeah, this was a pretty good episode for Riker.
