This is an interesting take on the concept of the "Mary Sue" type of character. It's not really an accurate description of Mary though - I don't think she's "perfect", but she's close to it. ISTJ characters are often described as "just right".
I have a few theories about this character archetype. I think it's a combination of being Libras and being realistic. Libras aren't perfect people, and they can be very naive and idealistic, which Mary is as well. But she's also very realistic, and we see her change in a very gradual way. She starts out as a fairly nice person, and a good friend to her family and friends. She does seem to get better as the book goes on, and she begins to learn some lessons. And I think that those lessons are realistic. I think that the MCs book shows that if you're only nice to people when they make you happy, you might be missing out on some important friendships.
I think that's the main theme of the book - learning to value friendships and relationships.
