Tell us about your early years. What was growing up like for you? Do you remember any incidents that shaped your childhood?
I grew up in a small town in Northern Nigeria. It was a very traditional Catholic family. I went to Catholic school. I didn’t exactly dislike it, but it wasn’t my first choice. I was incredibly shy when I was young. My mother would say that I was two years old when she first had to hold my hand to get me out of the house to go to school. I was incredibly shy and quiet as a kid. When I started school, I had very few friends.
