Lava Golems have no concept of pain, and will not flee when standing in fire. They are immune to fire damage, but will die if they fall into lava. However, they can survive in lava for a very long time. Lava Golems do not know how to swim, and they cannot fly. They can however teleport when they are in a lava pool, which they call "lava fountains". In order to teleport, they must touch a block that has water on it, or the other way around.
Lava Golems are perfect for use in a minecart system. They can get rid of cobweb in one shot, disable traps with a single step, and even destroy a minecart if it gets too close.
