In the Mario series, Luigi is the younger, weaker twin brother of Mario. He has a green cap and mustache, and his main ability is to jump higher than Mario can. Luigi is usually depicted as being timid and clumsy, but he has been shown to be quite smart at times. He is generally depicted as being the "weaker" brother of the two. In most games in the series, Luigi's role is to assist Mario—he will often cover Mario's back when fighting an enemy or obstacle, and Mario will then take the focus of the enemy while Luigi defeats the villain. In the case of Super Mario Bros., Luigi was the one who had to rescue Mario from the Bowser Brood in the final part of the game, although in most games, it is Mario who rescues Luigi from Bowser.
