Orestis was born in Macedonia and raised in Thessaloniki, Greece, before moving to Australia to study at university. His family had a long history of military service and currently Orestis is the last member of his family to see active service.
At university Orestis was a talented student, majoring in Business, but after graduating he struggled to find a job in his field. In an effort to find employment he worked in many other fields, including banking and finance, but none of this helped him find work of his dream.
In 2015 as he was going through a rough time Orestis decided to try out for the Australian Idol. He scored well on the show, with his first audition receiving a standing ovation from the judges. This was a huge boost for him, and it was this performance that led him to pursue the path of a pop star.
As soon as he heard the news that he had been successful in the Australian Idol, Orestis called his parents back in Greece to tell them he was going to sign a recording contract.
